Ultracast - Rapid Prototyping Specialists
All prototype castings are meticuluously finished.

Parts Finishing

The metal castings are cooled in their molds to ensure complete solidification and to hold tight dimensions, after which the mold is broken away to reveal the finished casting.

High-pressure water jets are applied to remove all traces of mold material from the part prior to finishing and smoothing.

Finishing includes such steps as cutting off the gating where metal enters the mold, and removing the flashing that occurs naturally at the mold joints or parting lines on the casting. Your parts are meticulously hand-finished by experienced technicians without need for expensive trim dies.

Subsequent grit blasting removes the thin oxide skin found on all aluminum castings giving the parts a finished, uniform appearance prior to plating and/or painting.
